Keshi Pearls

Background information about the Keshi Pearl
Keshi Pearls are accidental byproducts of the culturing process of both freshwater and saltwater pearls. Oysters reject the implanted nucleus before the development of the pearl has completed, or implanted mantle tissue fractures, resulting in separate pearl sacs without nuclei, giving the Keshi Pearl it?s natural shape. The resulting Keshi Pearl is solid nacre, a substance that expels an exceptionally high lustrous surface quality, that is even greater than the luster in cultured pearls. This superior gleam is well-known for having a shimmer that is extremely popular in recent jewelry lines.
Today, the Keshi Pearl is in high demand, but is also rare because Tahitian and South Sea pearl farmers now x-ray their oysters to see whether or not the nucleus is still inside, or if it has been expelled. If an oyster has an absent nucleus, they are re-nucleated before the Keshi pearl develops.
The natural shape and rare orient of the Keshi Pearl is what ultimately favors the beauty and uniqueness of this one of a kind treasure. All of our items that share Keshi Pearls are pieces to cherish for a lifetime.
